Elvira Mistress of the Dark Returns with ELVIRA’S MOVIE MACABRE - Press Junket - San Diego Comic Con - July 24, 2010

h1 Monday, August 16th, 2010

100_2708.jpg

By Rick A Mortis, Editor in Chief

Pics provided by Rick A Mortis

On Saturday July 24, 2010 a press junket was held to officially announce that Elvira Mistress of the Dark Returns will be busting out on the boob tube with revamped ELVIRA’S MOVIE MACABRE  (tentative title) which will premiere on THIS! Television and in national syndication throughout the U.S. set to air on September 25 and make sure to check local listings for station, day, time and all that other stuff. The show will be a weekly two-hour movie block and is distributed by Trifecta Entertainment & Media, and will air on television stations representing more than 80% of U.S. households.

When asked how she felt about the Twilight movies, Elvira tried really hard to be diplomatic and after being egged on by Ted, she broke and said “I hate the Twilight movies!”  I prefer my vamps non sparkling as well.

When asked how she keeps looking so young “Virgins blood, but it’s getting harder to find and exorcising daily”

Elvira was asked if any favorites made it on the show and they are The Killer Shrews, Manos, The Hands of Fate, Teenagers From Outer Space and Werewolf of Washington.

Hank Cohen, CEO/Partner of Trifecta Entertainment & Media, told us that over 500 films were considered before the final choices were made. “Elvira knows these movies backwards and forwards.”

Two movies that she would like to get the rights for are Plan 9 From Outer Space and House on Haunted Hill.

A real issue was finding the public-domain flicks in good or complete condition, because these movies when made on the cheap so the crappy negatives abound. The films to be featured on the show are remastered. “I’m going to be in HD of course,” she said. As for screening 3D movies, Elvira grinned and replied, “I only have 2Ds right now.”

Elvira is totally jazzed about the “spooky and cool” music for the new show, composed by White Stripes musician Jack While. “We’re going to make a day-glow vinyl of it,” Elvira said. Vinyl is awesome so this is SWEET!

Speaking of groovy tunes for your crypt, Elvira also has a iTunes album titled Elvira’s Gravest Hits featuring 13 tracks of course!

http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/elviras-gravest-hits/id380065081

When asked about Lady Gaga and other pop stars “stay out of the front of the Macabre Mobile” and will call herself “Lady Tatas.”

Elvira’s Movie Macabre is a 34D Production written and produced by Cassandra Peterson and Ted Biaselli. The series’ Executive Producer is Anita First. The format of the show will be very similar to her previous one. Elvira will have 8 lead ins and will also pop up on screen for commentary as well. “And I have the same old damn couch,” Elvira said.

Elvira’s  Movie Macabre TV series picks are:

Night of the Living Dead, The Terror, The Brain That Wouldn’t Die, Giant Gila Monster, Scared to Death, Werewolf of Washington, Eegah!, Untamed Women, Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, Satanic Rights of Dracula, I Eat Your Skin, Don’t Look in the Basement, Teenagers From Outer Space, Jesse James Meets Frankenstein’s Daughter, Lady Frankenstein, Manster, Wild Women of Wongo, A Bucket of Blood, Voyage to the Planet of Prehistoric, Tormented, The Wasp Woman, Beast From the Haunted Cave, The Killer Shrews, Monsters From a Prehistoric Planet, Attack of the Giant Leeches and Manos, The Hands of Fate.

DECADENCE AND BATCAVE

h1 Sunday, August 15th, 2010

By AuntiePanPan

http://image3.examiner.com/images/blog/replicate/EXID56968/images/resized_decadencefpeventbrite.jpg

DECADENCE over at the Gardenwalk near Disneyland was completely WONDERFUL!!! Where else can you walk the red carpet, see Cirque Bezerk live, Vaude and the Villains and get all the absinthe you want and try out all the different foods from all the hottest spots in Orange County? Hosted by OC Weekly Annually…They totally outdid themselves this year.

In all honesty this is an annual event hosted by OC Weekly in support of the Charity The Make A Wish Foundation…Of which I heartily Support and encourage everyone else to as well.

From 7pm till Midnight, there was the girls from the Long Beach Roller Derby, signing up my girls for tryouts. Stilt walkers, Fire dancing, Ballet Dancers… and free booze. Did I mention the free booze yet?

I found Tiffany towards the end of the evening leaning over (IN CORSET) the Watermelon vodka shot booth while a bartender was attempting to pour shots in her mouth…and actually succeeded!

My girls: Tiffany, Mel and Kitten looked like the most decadent people there dressed in black from head to toe…smashing! We rocked that place…

At one point we were all hanging out with the girls from the Green Door Saloon, recently dubbed “OC’s Bar of the Year” by Last Call Magazine. They placed their table right next to the free photo booth…heh heh

We all ended up in the photo booth entertaining the people in line.

As far as the food goes, I admit I loved Commonweath in Fullertons food (YUM!) but as far as sweet treats go: I FELL IN LOVE with Black Market Bakery from Irvine. Oh my lordie! Rum cake….Rocky Gonache…Then I also fell in complete LOVE again (I’m fickle) with Dolce Monachelli’s…Chocolate Kahlua? Amaretto Del Orso? Italian Butter Rum? Coconut Apricot Brandy?!??!?? MOUTHGASM!!!!

….I gotta watch the food channel from now on to get horny it was just THAT GOOD!!!!

I also tried the various Sake Vodkas from Ty-Ku… Melon  TY-Ku Liqueur my personal favorite…if you get the chance try what they call it “AN AFTER GLOW”? That’s TYKU Liqueur, Vodka/TKU SOJU…a squeeze of Lemon and a splash of Diet Citrus Soda. Yummers!

The DJ was Fantastic…I LOVE 80’s music…and you know you scare the normies when the goth chicks arrive and BOOM! The DJ puts on the CURE, Depeche Mode, Siouxie, and all that good music that made neon BURN and Fishnet RULE!

And then…it happened…somewhere between my watermelon shots , Sake Vodka, Grand Mariner Absinthe, and some Fabulous nom noms from Kya…..And a WONDERFUL bacon/sirloin burger made by the hand of a friend of Kittens…it happened…

I think I registered for Highlife Adventures Singles Club.

I think I may be skydiving in a few weeks…gasp. I’m not sure. Now that I have woken up from my eyeliner dreams and had one of my famous absinthe “Green Outs”…I’ll explain sometime…

it’s either skydiving or white water rafting…double gasp.

I do know however I am not joining rollerderby…I cheer from the sidelines for that…

After a TON of LITERAL DECADANCE and getting my eyebrows estimated for threading and lots of pressies in my gift bag…BINDIS!!

I found myself in the MelMobile on the way to HOLLYWOOD to the dragonfly lounge (6510 Santa Monica Blvd..see Kitten I got it right FINALLY) to BATCAVE! Where 45 Grave was performing…and in celebration of Dinah Cancer’s 50th Birthday….of which we found out that I guess her birthday is NEXT week and I must find her a LARGE PEZ DISPENSER Shaped like the DEATH STAR…

Lucien of Drunkrockers was there (aka MY BOSS of DRUNKROCKERS.COM) I think he was surprised to see me…HI BOSS! SEE I’m writing a REAL ARTICLE!!!! I wasn’t just drinking….okay…maybe i was drinking A LITTE BIT…very very little…I promise you come with us to OC WEEKLYS EVENT NEXT YEAR!?!?

Artiste Extraordinaire, Michael Hans arrived (Fabulous artist by the way! I encourage everyone to buy something he creates if you ever get the chance)

I also saw some of the cutest Dia De Los Muertos hair pieced at this one booth…but where would I ever wear them?

…I saw JenJen for a couple of moments here and there…It is a blur…I do remember leaning out of the backseat of the car screaming “I LOVE YOU JEN!!!” and she reached over and gave me a big Glittery Kiss…and when I fell back in the car? Half the snaps came undone on my dress…luckily I was DONE for the evening…

Drinking , Dancing, nom noms, Good Company?!???! What the hell else is there in LIFE?!?

So on that note, gentle readers…why are you reading this? Go out there and enjoy this beautiful day…I’m going to…

After I find my clothes and get all this eyeliner off my face…snicker.

NEXT WEEK:

The girlz of Drunkrockers are going to Orange County’s Hottest Top Independent Fashion & Design Event August 22,2010

Trust ME you are going to want to check out this one! from 11-6 pm…

at OC Fairgrounds 88 Fair Drive/Costa Mesa.
