h1 Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

Rue McClanahan best known as the sex pot of GOLDEN GIRLS  and who also won an Emmy for playing Blanche Devereaux, passed away from what was termed a massive stroke earlier this morning. She was 76.

Betty White is now the last surviving star of the racy and groundbreaking 1985-1992 TV comedy. Estelle Getty died in 2008; Bea Arthur passed away in 2009.

“People always ask me if I’m like Blanche,” McClanahan said tongue in cheek to the Cape Cod Times in 2007. “Well, Blanche was an oversexed, self-involved, man-crazy, vain Southern belle from Atlanta-and I’m not from Atlanta.”

I’m With Coco!!!

h1 Friday, January 15th, 2010

Hi all!  Doctor Poo here.  As you may well know, Conan O’brien’s reign as the new host for the Tonight Show may very well come to a premature end.  My personal feelings regarding this situation is utter destain for Jay Leno and the executives at NBC.  Not only is pulling Conan’s show in its infancy unfair, but is, in my opinion a breach of contract.  I offer my support to Conan and his staff, who many have uprooted their families, in order to produce this new legacy of the Tonight Show.  Not only do I hope this situation gets resolved, I hope that Conan continues to host the Tonight Show EVERY night after the 11pm news.

To show your support for Conan and his staff, please join the I’m With Coco group on Facebook:

… And NOT in a good way. Before any ‘Twerds’ try to hunt me down andstakeme I have to say this; I am one of you… gooble gobble, gooble gobble! I loved the Twilight series; but the movie had the most maladaptive screenplay that I have ever seen. The writing was so bad I am shocked that Stephanie Meyers allowed such a desecration of her highly acclaimed work. This only leads me to say… “Why Stephanie, why?” I must make a note to myself that if I ever have a world renowned best-seller that I make sure that my work isn’t completely sodomized in the process. That’s right, I said sodomized… and, again, not in good way; watching this movie left me completely butt hurt, much like Ving Rhames in Pulp Fiction. It left out the most important qualities regarding the characters; that being the love that they develop for each other; and added some of the most retarded lines I have ever heard. “Hold on tight spider monkey” and “Things like this just don’t exist.” Things like what, trees, standing in a forest?   Please, give me specifics, as I am not grasping your words, actions, and locale as not existing.  Again I say horrible screen adaptation! Attention: Melissa Rosenberg, YOU SUCK!! And here is why…

TWILIGHT - Movie Review

By Rick_A_Mortis

Ok I have not read the series, but I’m a huge fan of vampire movies.

SPOILERS AHEAD YE BE WARNED!

I went in hoping that at worse this movie would be like a bad teen angst version of the Lost Boys movie - which I heart for it’s totally 80’s radness. The lights go down and the movie starts and I was then subjected to by far one of the worst movies or best unintentional comedies ever. Read the rest of this entry

GET SMART

By Rick_A_Mortis

Synopsis: Maxwell Smart (Steve Carell) is on a mission to thwart the latest plot for world domination by the evil crime syndicate known as KAOS. When the headquarters of U.S. spy agency Control is attacked and the identities of its agents compromised, the Chief (Alan Arkin) has no choice but to promote his ever-eager analyst Maxwell Smart, who has always dreamt of working in the field alongside stalwart superstar Agent 23 (Dwayne Johnson). Smart is partnered instead with the lovely-but-lethal veteran Agent 99 (Anne Hathaway). Given little field experience and even less time, Smart-armed with nothing but a few spy-tech gadgets and his unbridled enthusiasm-must thwart the doomsday plans of KAOS head Siegfried (Terence Stamp). –© Warner Bros.

Ok I’m a fan of the GET SMART series, though I was just kinda blah about seeing another movie based on a TV show.

SPOILERS AHEAD YE BE WARNED!

FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS Review - The Orpheum - Sunday June 1, 2008

FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS - The Orpheum - Sunday June 1, 2008

By Rick_A_Mortis

The Flight of the Conchords are a folkish comedy band from New Zealand. I’ve seen them on a few specials and also their hysterical show on HBO. The band contains Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement each have huge fan bases usually female. They divide themselves as being either a Bretosexuals or Jemanaics. I like both in a purely platonic way so I guess that makes me a BretoJamalic?

FOTC 101: Intro to the Fanfolkintastic

$99, $127, $159; as the price crept up bid by bid; a single question lingered in my mind. Can I really put a price on education? The answer to this is vehemently YES; and that price is $202.50; the amount of money used from my financial aid to get the winning bid for the last pair of tickets on ebay to see Flight of the Conchords in concert. Some may say that this is a gross manipulation of not only the educational system but also a deliberate molestation of the vexatious parameters set up for the intentions of financial aid. To that I say; blow me! What constitutes as educational material is completely subjective. Sure, at first glance it appears to be just another concert but allow me to scratch the surface and show what the ‘Conchord Institute of Folkology’ (not to be confused with the authentic craftwork of the Hungarians also known as folkology or an actual educational institute) has to offer.
